The Cat Night Chase
About ten years ago this story took place a warm mid-July night. The time was around midnight and I had just gone to bed. My dad was asleep on the couch with the TV on and my mom was just about to wake my dad up to go to bed. Since there was no sense sleeping there all night with the TV on. Well my mom comes out there and wakes my dad up and looks to see if the our two cats were there still looking out the screen door to the porch. Well they weren't and the screen was broke. So my mom said, "Get up, the cats are outside." She called for me to help and I got right up. Molly and Mikey were not outdoor cats so that's why it was urgent to get them found. Well Molly was easy to find. She was laying on the concrete rolling around on it. I guess she enjoyed it having freedom for a little while. We all looked for her brother Mikey but he was no where to be seen.
Now let me give you the description of the area. I live in a small subdivision where all the houses are on acre to half acre lots and there's lots of room between houses with lots of trees and bushes to hide in for a cat.
Yes, Mikey was long gone when we started looking for him. The three of us split up and started looking around with flashlights at twelve o'clock at night with our pajama's on! I don't think anyone saw us though.
We thought Mikey might be hiding in one of our evergreen bushes but he wasn't. Suddenly my mom saw a black and white cat run west towards the neighbors house. Well my dad took off running through the front yards to chase Mikey down. We watched him run up to the bushes in front of the neighbors house. He chased the cat around the house once but just to discover it wasn't our cat! He had been chasing someone else's cat! Just then we saw the real Mikey come out from a bush and my mom called to my dad to come back. I took off running after the cat. First he ran towards my dad then he turned ran to the south and back around to the east side of the house. At that time we lost sight of him as we tried to keep up with him. We followed the path that he most likely took. It took us about five minutes to locate him on the north side of the house meowing in the bushes. After a few sprays of water from the hose to get him out, he was ready to be let back in as he came out and sat by the door. Other then they were a little dirty they were all right.
This is one of the earliest funny stories that I can remember today. But I know others like this are bound to happen again.
