Geology
My biggest hobby is rock collecting. It's a hobby and one of my obsessions. My dad started me out on the hobby when I was around five. I started out with one shelf off rocks, now I have about ten shelves of rocks, rocks on the front porch and some just in jars around my room. I counted my rocks up so I could tell you how many. 1030 seems to be the number right now and I don't plan to stop. I've been all over the country during vacations and my dad and I always check out the local geology. The good kinds of rocks are scarce around here, but I have found interesting rocks come out of the local quarry in Racine, WI. My rocks vary from just plain granite to gold and other gemstones. My favorite two places to find rocks are in Montana and the upper peninsula of Michigan. I've gotten alot of good one's there. As you can see the background of this page is a cave: Mark Twain Cave in Hannibal, MO. When my family and me came back from Montana and Wyoming we had about 200 pounds of rocks. I had a rock expedition last spring in the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan. I brought home a additional hundred rocks or so. My favorite place to look for rocks is old mine dumps, there usually not easy to get to, but you usually find some good specimens. My dad and me have been in really remote places where the roads are one lane and full of rocks and mud, and some places like the beach just a five minute drive from here. Again I have no intention of stopping this hobby.
